short information about infect@aid in english

The efforts of the emergency services are changing from fire-fighting into specialized technical rescue and disaster management. (see graphics in the German background informations; bold numbers indicate the relation of non-firefigthing-incidents causing intervention by German firebrigades in 2004)
But international scientific literature shows research on infection risks for non-medical emergency responders, even if blood or body-fluid-contacts must be expected in those situations. (for literature references see German background informations here)

infect@aid is an online-based survey on the risk of infection and the protection thereof among non-medical emergency responders, such as firefighters or haz-mat-teams.

infect@aid is designed to get science-based data directly from emergency responders on the risk and the prevention measures which are already taken in Germany and German-speaking countries.
